Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that affect person-centered care performed by nursing home staff.
Method: The data were collected from 120 nursing home staff members from six nursing homes in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon. Measurements were taken using the Korean Measure of Person-Directed Care in Nursing Homes for person-centered care. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0 to calculate the mean, standard deviation and run t-tests, one-way ANOVA tests, Scheffe¡¯s test, and multiple linear regressions.
Result: The multiple linear regression analysis showed statistically significant results for employment condition (¥â=.153, p=.045), rate of nurse (¥â=-.363, p<.001), and public nursing home rating reports (¥â=.228, p=.011).
Conclusion: The results of this study can be used to improve nursing homes¡¯ person-centered care. Moreover, nursing homes should develop a variety of strategies to ensure employment stability, increase rate of nurse, and develop a public nursing home rating-report index that comprehensively evaluates residents¡¯ quality of life. From these efforts, nursing home workers will be more able to actively perform person-centered care.
